(DALLAS, Texas. November 18, 1997) A draft of Version 1.1 of Vending Equipment Interface Specification (VEI) was released today for review and comments from interested parties. The 60 day review period will end on January 18, 1998.
The draft of Version 1.1 of VEI is available over the internet at http://www.agentsystems.com. The document can be downloaded using any standard web browser software package.
Comments on Version 1.1 should be e-mailed to vei@agentsystems.com. All comments will be circulated among the VEI Working Group members. Publication of Version 1.1 is expected in February of 1998, after review of all comments by the Working Group.
The VEI Working Group was created to allow manufacturers, users, and consultants in the industry to provide direct input on the VEI specification. Membership in the VEI Working Group is open to any organization or individual concerned with vending. Requests for membership should be mailed or faxed on company letterhead to:
VEI Working GroupThe Vending Equipment Interface Specification defines how equipment used in parking, fare collection, and other vending applications should communicate financial, maintenance, and operational information to external local or remote computer systems. First introduced in October of 1996, VEI has met with wide acceptance from both manufacturers and users of vending equipment, and has been specified as a requirement in contract competitions throughout North America.
