Agent Systems' Fare Collection ProductsOur areas of expertise are software and hardware integration engineering for mass transit fare collection and electronic payments systems. In the past fifteen years we have developed and implemented innovative networked fare collection systems in over a dozen cities in the United States. Typically these projects have included ticket vending machines, ticket validators, and associated networked components. We originated the concept of customer-operated high speed credit card-based ticketing with our pioneering projects for Long Island Rail Road and New Jersey Transit in 1985. Our primary networking product Agent Transaction Manager is a complete environment for the support of mass transit fare collection and point-of-sale devices as well as other customer-operated vending equipment. Our most recent large scale networking project is San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART). This project includes the installation of our software on a series of fault tolerant computers throughout the service area which enable full real-time monitoring of all fare collection equipment and the management of credit and ATM card payments. Our newest product is The Smart Box™ Validating Farebox which uses the best of available computer-based technology to solve problems which have faced bus operators for many years. Electronic validation technologies are used to eliminate the acceptance of slugs and counterfeits--they are returned to the passenger rather than accepted as valid money. Additionally, a complete system is delivered which provides complete audit reports for every bus every day. An innovative money room automation system, along with a compact cashbox design, eliminates the need for expensive hand labor in facing and stacking bills and does not require expensive and hard-to-maintain custom money sorting and counting equipment.
